Wayne Bank, like us, loves local small businesses in Scranton! This year at the Holiday Market, they want to celebrate Scranton and have fun doing it, so they’ve created an interactive trivia game based on Scranton. It’s called “The Scranton Trivia Challenge” and it will be accessible through a floor standing touchscreen and several computers, so everyone will have a chance to play! We had the opportunity to chat with Wayne Bank’s Commercial Loan Officer, Vincent (Vinny) G. O’Bell, to get some more details.
Where are you based?
I work out of the Central Scranton Community Office on Adams Ave., across from the Courthouse. However, as a Business Lending Officer for Lackawanna County, I help local businesses across the region.
We know you sponsor a lot of local art events, can you tell us about that and why you feel it’s important?
Wayne Bank’s motto is “Helping the Community Grow”, but it’s more than just a slogan. We are passionate about supporting our local communities, and the arts are a huge part of what makes a community special. Art events bring people in the community together and get them excited to support local artists. We are always striving to show people how important it is to support everything local. Whether it’s local artists or local businesses, we know that by working together to support and promote each other, we can create positive change that will truly help our community to grow.
What are you looking forward to at this year’s ScrantonMade Holiday market?
Everything! I think it’s an amazing event that gives a much deserved focus on local artists and businesses. It’s a perfect opportunity to celebrate everything that makes Scranton wonderful and unique. I’m also really excited that the event is in The Globe Store this year. People in Scranton and the surrounding communities are very nostalgic about The Globe Store, especially during the holiday season. Because of that, this event is going to bring together Scranton’s history with its present, so attendees will have the opportunity to think back on fond memories while making wonderful new ones at the same time.
We’re all very excited for the trivia game you’ll be featuring during the event. Can you tell us a little more about the game?
We are not your typical Bank, so we knew we had to do something different at our booth. We also wanted to celebrate Scranton and have fun doing it, so we decided to create an interactive trivia game based on Scranton. We’re calling it “The Scranton Trivia Challenge” and it’s going to feature questions about Scranton’s history, landmarks, current events, local businesses, and more. It will be accessible through a floor standing touchscreen and several computers, so everyone will have a chance to play. Participants will be challenged to answer enough questions correctly and maybe even win a prize! We’re really excited about it! It’s going to be so much fun and all ages can play, so we invite everyone to stop by Wayne Bank’s booth to have some fun and find out how much they know about Scranton.
What’s your favorite thing about Scranton, PA?
Scranton has great diversity as it relates to our business footprint. Within a few blocks of downtown, we offer everything from great restaurants and delis to fitness and yoga studios. There are many historic attractions, including our National Museum and 5 star hotels, bringing a tourism component into play, as well. Of course, the greatest asset of the City is its people!!!
Where else can our readers find you?
Like I mentioned earlier, Wayne Bank is dedicated to supporting all things local, so you will find us at numerous community events throughout the year. We have 27 Community Offices in six counties, so we are involved in many local communities. In Scranton, you will also find us in many local businesses through our “Bank Local. Shop Local. Win Local” program. Each month, we showcase local businesses by holding a public contest that gives entrants the opportunity to win a $25 gift certificate from that month’s partner businesses. We promote the businesses through an interactive corner of our Central Scranton Community Office, as well as through traditional and social media. We also ask the businesses to place signs in their stores, advertising the contest. So, when you see a Wayne Bank sign in a local business, you’ll know that you can win a gift certificate! To enter, you can stop by our Scranton Community Office or visit us on Facebook.
