What is the mission of Make-A-Wish?
Make-A-Wish grants wishes for children with life threatening illnesses in order to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
We’re excited for you to bring back the nostalgia of the old Santa World.
How do you plan on doing this? What should our shoppers and visitors expect?
We are big believers in the power of positive thinking and magic. By adding this to the kindness, generosity, and creativity of volunteers, wish families and donors we’ve gathered and crafted a variety of seasonal images to give our guests that old fashioned nostalgic holiday feel. Visitors are encouraged to stop in and get inspired by the magic of the season, and shop for custom Make-A-Wish items and fan favorite trinkets for their family and friends. Kids of all ages are asked to write a letter a Santa, and be sure to check out our wish gallery to learn more about the 20+ wishes we are working in Lackawanna County, as well as find out how you can help make a wish come true this holiday season.
Do the gifts purchased through your gift shop benefit anything in particular?
100% of the event proceeds will be used toward the wish granting expenses of a child from Scranton.
What are you looking forward to at this years ScrantonMade Holiday market?
Make-A-Wish is excited to make new friends, as well as reconnect with some old ones. We are so grateful to have the opportunity to share our message of hope and joy and be a part of this great sense of community. There’s a great team behind the scenes putting thought and care into all the details, and its demonstrated in the warm, friendly faces you see over the course of the 3 days. It’s a treat to run into your co-workers, neighbors and old friends for a hug and compare purchases, discover all the amazing talented artists and vendors living here in our area, and make new friends along the way.
What’s your favorite thing about Scranton, PA?
Scranton never gives up. Much like our brave wish children and their families, who have experienced their share of bad days, they never give up hope that better days are ahead. Since 1988 we have granted nearly 200 wishes for children from Lackawanna County, and none of them would have been possible without the big-hearted generosity of our local donors.
