We’ve been a fan of Mud & Maker since we visited Pottsville years ago and are so excited to have them join us at Lackawanna Arts Fest on August 4th! Their pottery combines a natural, rustic charm with bright, cheerful glazes that feel so modern! We think they’re perfect for the collector or just someone looking for fun & functional items for their home!
Tell us a little about Mud & Maker!
Our tagline is Unconventional pottery for unconventional people. Mud & Maker blends multiple techniques and mediums into handcrafted and original one of a kind pieces of pottery. We live and work in rural Pennsylvania. Inspired by our natural surroundings and the people that we meet – many of our pieces include elements of playful design, blending a colorful rustic aesthetic with just the right amount of snarky wit. We believe each day is unique – just like every piece of pottery we make.
In addition to offering a full gallery of our work, we also teach workshops (perfect for all ages & abilities) in our fully stocked studio. Registration for all upcoming socially based classes is available at www.MudAndMaker.com
What types of work will you be featuring at Lackawanna Arts Fest?
We will have tons of cups, mugs, bowls and functional pottery as well as a small transition into some fall goodies. We’ll be posting sneak peaks on Instagram at @MudAndMaker and will use #LackawannaArtsFest as well.
We know you also have a brick & mortar store in Pottsville that offers art workshops and lots of local artisan goods. Tell us a little about what you offer there.
Our brick & mortar shop is open for socially based classes and events which typically sell out about a month in advance. This is a great BYOB girl’s night out, date night and of course kids are always welcome to the all-ages events (no alcohol permitted at all-ages events). Since we do so many shows & events every weekend, we typically keep the truck packed which means the largest selection is always going to be in person at any of the festivals that we have on our rotation for the fall. However, we do have seasonal open houses + studio sales; all upcoming dates will be listed on our website.
Is there anything else our readers should know?
We’re so excited to be adding our first ever Scranton event to our rotation; we’ve grown exponentially to participate in events such as the Philadelphia Flower Show and Country Living Magazine Fair, it’s always SO exciting to come home to a local event where it all started. We know we have lots of Mud Lovers that mosey on down 81 to come to our classes and workshops, so we’re over the moon to see everyone in August.
