MiZ is busy right now in the studio recording our third full length LP. Due to be out later this year we have a slew of new songs to debut.
Who is in the MiZ lineup for AOTS?
I couldn’t be happier with the new line up consisting of the double drunming and percussion of Jami Novak and James Naylor, plus Mike Borowski on keys, Justin Mazer on guitar and Matt ‘Dane’ Gabriel on bass.
What else is on your summer schedule?
Right now I’m playing a lot in the NY, NJ, PA area. Some festivals like Zucchini Moon, GJK Fest and Cornstock for the full band, and solo gigs from Long Beach Island / Asbury Park NJ – A new Briggs Farm presents listening room debut show in Bloomsburg and a stop at Pennings Farms in Warwick NY.
You maintain a pretty rigorous touring schedule. How do you pull it off?
Honestly, I try my best to eat healthy and sleep and rest every chance I get. Makes all the difference, especially when I have to do lots of solo driving!
Do you have any advice for young musicians who want to make a career out of music?
Yes- practice, practice, practice. And know your songs and your vision well before your play out. I made the mistake of playing a lot of unprepared shows in my life and it can actually be counter productive. Also starting out I played every open mic in and near York PA for over a year before I started playing my own shows. I met lots of people, made great connections and the places where the open mics took place often ended up booking me for my own shows. So many great things happened through playing open mics and I made some live long friends along the way.
Has being from NEPA influenced your work as a musician?
Yes. Hard work ethic. My friends and family often tell me to slow down and stop working so hard. I finally started listening to them too ha!
Is there anything else you would like our readers to know?
Yes, please come check out all the other bands on this great line up. They are all our friends and they are all so awesome and we encourage the support of all live music especially in the local scene!
